“The Chrome Cats’ sound has placed them on Billboard’s indicator charts twice – and they are only four years into their career … Jamila Sims, 16, and her brother KJ, 19, make up Chrome Cats, a hip-hop duo who recently hit No. 37 on Billboard’s Top 40 Indicator Charts. The Internet has allowed them to pursue music without leaving home for a larger city.” - Keiara Carr, Journal Gazette Newspaper (Jan 26, 2014)

“With the intention of creating a universal song for all ages, Chrome Cats have provided something for everyone. … Jamila singing her infectious hook over a pulsating, pounding, and party-inducing beat. KJ comes in “spitting the truth” … The single(“Best Life”) goes on to put a plethora of danceable beats and deep lyrics in your eardrums. “The brother and sister duo of KJ and Jamila have certainly laid down the foundation to get their musical careers to new heights. With their recent single “Best LIfe” already entering The Top 40 Indicator Billboard Charts, there is no way to go but up for The Chrome Cats.” - Fernando Fernandez, http://www.ferntv.ca (Jan 13, 2014)

“After releasing their Rise EP (2010) and Flight to Paradise (2013) album, as well as a number of singles, including “DNA of a Winner,” which got them a spot on Billboard Indicator Charts, the duo has now released their “Best Life” single. “Best Life” is an upbeat, playful, energetic track with a dominant beat accompanied by KJ’s clever lyrics and Mila’s saccharine vocals that make this song so irresistible. It is a true party anthem and a true feel-good song in every sense. There is no way you’re getting away without being infected by this positive energy that will turn your grin upside down.” - Nina Vasiljevic, The Celebrity Cafe (Nov 24, 2013)

"To paraphrase Eddie Money, Vallejo rap duo Chrome Cats have got two tickets to paradise, and they’re packing their bags to leave tonight. Best of all, they’ve invited DJBooth readers along with for the ride. (It’s a really big plane.) Fresh off last week’s release of their latest Booth-featured full-length, siblings Korland “KJ” Sims and Jamila “Mila” Sims are back on our front page with the official video for title track Flight to Paradise. An upbeat, bigboytraks-produced jam which encapsulates the project’s themes of dreaming big and living in the moment, the cut receives an appropriately dynamic visual accompaniment courtesy of director Miles Meyer. Like what you’re hearing? Then what are you waiting for—click here to stream and/or purchase Chrome Cats’ new LP." - Richard, DJ Booth (Mar 01, 2013)

“Introduced to the Booth with September’s reader-approved Catch Me, Vallejo-repping duo Chrome Cats return to our pages with a newly-released single off their forthcoming digital full-length. On Celebration, beatsmith Andreas Bentsen‘s glimmering synths set the stage for carefree sung and rapped bars from siblings Korland and Jamilia Sims. Craving more from these precocious up-and-comers? Keep it locked for the latest tunes leading up to the yet-unscheduled, iTunes-exclusive release of their Flight to Paradise LP.” - Richard, DJBooth.net (Jan 01, 2012)

“Chrome Cats began simply as a summer pastime. After recording a few tracks, 16-year-old Korland "KJ" Sims and his sister 13-year-old Jamila synched a pair of songs to video slideshows and then uploaded them to YouTube. It wasn't long until the then 11-year-old Jamila got a Facebook message from Bryan Tan (head of Malaysia-based Lakefront Records) and a deal was struck. "I gave him my dad's number," Jamila says, "and it started to take off." Videos earned more than 200,000 views on YouTube. Other original songs have received nearly 90,000 plays on Chrome Cats' Myspace page. Both of the popular songs have been re-recorded and are included on the duo's four-song Lakefront debut EP "Rise." A full-length album is expected early 2012.” - Favorite Signing Stories of 2011, Music Connection Magazine (Dec 12, 2011)

“From the scarily precocious, 17-year-old Earl Sweatshirt to 15-year-old Booth fave Gameboi, it’s starting to seem like prodigiously talented teen rappers have formed a conspiracy to make me feel old. (I turn 23 tomorrow, and have yet to cut a single rap record.) In furtherance of this trend, I’m proud to introduce up-and-coming duo Chrome Cats, making their Booth debut with the world premiere of mixtape inclusion Catch Me. On this breezy underground banger, beatsmith Sir C sets a wistfully determined mood behind the boards, layering woozy synths over a clattering breakbeat as Korland “KJ” Sims (17) rocks the mic, expressing his drive to achieve musical greatness in bars laced with poetic turns of phrase “...I intertwine with mind to generate the grind and out comes the shine.” Sister Jamilia Sims (14) turns in an equally impressive performance, showcasing her vocal chops on a tunefully fresh hook. Think Chrome Cats are going places? Then don’t miss the Vallejo representat” - Richard, DJBooth.net (Sep 01, 2011)

“Fort Wayne, IN and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, sound like an unlikely pairing of locations for a signing story. Especially for a brother and sister duo whose members are barely teenagers. But the 15,000-mile gap was closed with a few mouse clicks, arguing once again against the idea that the internet means the death of music. After recording a few tracks, 16-year-old Korland “KJ” Sims and his sister, 13-year-old Jamila, synched a pair of songs to video slideshows and then uploaded them to YouTube. It wasn’t long until the then 11 Jamila got a Facebook message from Bryan Tan (head of Lakefront Records) and a deal was struck. “We’d put videos online––Jamila created them,” Korland recalls. “We’d get some beats and go into the studio. We posted the videos and then some comments asking people to check them out. Last April Bryan contacted Jamila on Facebook and asked for our phone number. It took off from there.” Jamila adds, “He said he was interested in talking with us” - Rob Putnam, Music Connection Magazine (Feb '11 Signing Stories) (Feb 01, 2011)

“Los Angeles, California, United States of America November 16, 2010 -- Malaysia based independent label Lakefront Records is proud to announce the signing of Indiana based teen brother & sister hip-hop duo Chrome Cats, who mark the first US act to be released by the Malaysian imprint, announced Bryan Tan, President & CEO of Lakefront Records. “The key to making a successful label is signing artists with pure talent that we can nurture and develop,” Tan says. “I’m committed to thinking outside of the box and therefore actively seeking artists that can change the landscape of the music industry. From the moment I heard their track ‘Don’t Let Go,’ I was hooked.” Several months before the official release” - New Music Weekly (Nov 16, 2010)

““Chrome Cats signed to Malaysian-based Lakefront Records” Ask any of Chrome Cats’ hundreds of thousands of fans in over 25 countries worldwide what sets them apart in the hip-hop world, and you’ll get some fascinating answers. First, it’s all about positivity. Korland “KJ” and Jamila Sims are a dynamic brother and sister hip-hop rap/vocal duo who buck the typical negative themes and tell compelling stories that motivate and inspire, over beats that get the heart pumping and body moving. Then there’s that multi-generational appeal. Chrome Cats may be a teen duo (KJ is 16, Jamila 13), but they’re not just making music for and communicating with teens and young adults. They’re wise and mature beyond their years, mixing up old school and contemporary R&B sensibilities that draw in their peers, their parents and everyone else within grooving distance on their highly anticipated upcoming four-track debut EP. No doubt one of the reasons the Malaysia based, globally distr” - Fronst Illustrated Newspaper (Nov 03, 2010)
